Restricted Forum

  • I'm currently running a phpBB2 board.

    I have a need to have one section of my site restricted.

    I want all registered users to be able to see that the section is there, but not access, or read it.

    I've looked at a friends vBulletin setup and didn't see this ability. Only to either make it totally accessible or not even where it shows up.

    Is this possible?


  • That's not true. You can display a private forum on the forum home page yet still not allow those without the necessary access to see any of the posts or anything in those forums.


  • I have a section, the "NWS" section in which adult content, discussions, and humor is posted.

    Currently the way it is setup under my phpBB2 is that ALL members can see that the forum is there on the mainpage. "NWS Section" However, if they have not been granted access, that is all they can do is see it exists. If they click on it to access, it gives them an access denied message. I need members to know that the section exists, just that they may not have access to it. Kind of gives them a goal to work towards.

    So far I only see two ways of doing it in vBulletin, with no in between ground. Either ALL registered users can see the section, AND read it, or NOBODY can see the section even exists unless they have the access to participate in it.


  • Define Restricted. As in invisible? Password protected? reserved for certain groups?
