Makeup for film/theatre/music videos?

  • hi, im doing a project on makeup in film, theatre and music videos. can anyone think of any where they use loads of makeup to change the appearance of someone, to change their age or something.. like in the lion king musical they make people look like lions..and in rihannas "disturbia" video they make her look all scary and gothic. thankss for anythingg!! oh and in the harry potter films they make people look like creatures! please help me xxx anything appreciated! x

  • what about when they make people look 'fat' ?
    --- go to VH1 to look up 'charm school'- there is an episode where they turn the girls all ugly and try to make them speed date. they add on fake noses and big, fat necks.

    definition of features: e.g theatre- when your sitting in the back row its hard to see characters eyes in particular. It is important because you convey alot of expression through your eyes, so both male and female cast wear mascara and eye liner to define the eyes. Most features have to be exaggerated so everyone can make out your expressions. So foundation eye makeup and lip makeup is quite common.
    even in film/tv actors wear make up for similar reasons and not as much.
    You wont notice that the males are wearing the makeup because of the lighting but if you see them backstage they look ridiculous!
